<<介紹原因>>

I have listened the song “memory” before I saw this show. I lovethis song. I think the melody really touch me. Not only the lyric, but also thetune, these two parts move me by the actor’s voice. And, to talk about theshow, I consider that “Cats” is admirable. You can see those actors just actlike the cats, for instance, their expression, their action, and so on. You canjust image that the cats are talking to you. I think that is amazing. Inaddition, I think the songs in the “Cats” make the audiences know more aboutthe characters. These reasons are why I want to introduce this musical.

“Cats” is a musical composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber based on “Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats “T.S. Eliot. The musical first opened in the West Endin 1981. Since then, “Cats” has beenperformed around the world many times and has been translated into more than 20languages.

《貓》是由作曲家安德魯·洛伊·韋伯根據T·S·艾略特的詩集《老負鼠的貓經》及其他詩歌所編寫的一部音樂劇。自1981年在倫敦首演以來，它曾經被翻譯成二十多種文字在全世界各個角落演出。 

Tonight is a particularly special night of the year when the tribeof Jellicle Cats unite to celebrate who they are. They emerge from the darkenedlandscape into a larger-than-life junkyard, singing of their unique abilitiesand special qualities.The cats are at first suspicious and proud, reluctant toallow an audience into their domain. In "The Naming of Cats", however,they begin to reveal who they are and that cats have three different names: theone the family uses daily, a more dignified name, and a secret name.And then,Munkustrap tells us that tonight is the night when Old Deuteronomy will choosea cat to be reborn into a new life on the Heaviside Layer, and starts tointroduce the members in the Jellicle tribe…..

今夜是一年一度的潔里珂舞會，所有的貓兒們都在這裡彙集。強健的灰貓Munkustrap 是貓族首領 OldDeuteronomy 不在時的管事人，也是小貓的守護者。在故事裡他充當旁白的作用，給幼貓（及觀眾）講述潔里珂的規矩，並介紹其他的貓上場。這個一年一度的月圓之夜，是只有貓類才能體會它的魔力的，而且，他們一族的首領 Old Deuteronomy 也將會在黎明到來之前，從族裡選出一隻貓來，送上雲外之路（Heavy Side Layer）， 從而獲得重生。因此，在這個舞會上，各種各樣的貓兒們都要登場介紹自己，希望能去美妙幸福雲外之路。
