A baby who was found abandoned on the four stacker SS Virginian and raised by Danny (a coal-man from the boiler room), named Danny Boodman T. D. Lemon 1900. A few years later, unfortunately, Danny was killed in a workplace accident, and little 1900 was forced to survive aboard the Virginian as an orphan. At one midnight, the passengers awoke form the amazing music, played by 1900. So, eventually, 1900 grown up and joined the ship's orchestra, but never leaved the vessel. He befriended Max. It was true that Max had suggested him leaving the vessel, however he resisted his suggestion. But till he encountered a pretty immigrant girl when he was performing for the record producer, he felt he full in love with her, and this made him have a thought to disembark. Dramatically, when everyone thought he would land to find his love, yet he turned back to the vessel and lived as before, even the WW II broke out. After the end of war, the Virginian was scheduled to be scuttled and sunk far offshore. Max believed that 1900 still stayed in the vessel, persuading the worker not to explode the bomb until he convinced 1900 out of the hulk of the ship. Sadly, 1900 choose to stay with the ship, blowing up and sinking in the end of movie.
一名被丟棄在Virgenia號蒸汽客輪鋼琴上的孤兒，意外的被船上燒煤工人丹尼所發現且撫養，由於當時正好是西元1900年，丹尼便將他取名為1900，丹尼曼頓‧TD‧萊蒙‧1900。後來丹尼意外的死去。一天深夜，船上的乘客意外的被美妙的鋼琴聲吵醒，原來那正是鋼琴天才1900所彈奏的，也因此，1900才得以留在船上，成為了一名海上鋼琴師。隨著1900逐漸成熟，1900的演奏技藝已經是名聞遐邇，但是1900卻從來都沒有下過船。他的朋友Max亦多次勸說1900下船去開始全新的人生，皆以失敗告終。然而一天下午，唱片公司在為1900錄製唱片時，1900無意間看見在窗外駐足的一名美麗女子，1900一見鍾情但是又無法表達愛慕之意，於是將愛慕之意灌注在琴聲上。1900只想再度見到那名女子，隨著每一次的擦身而過，更使的1900愛慕之意越增強烈，但是女子已經下了船，1900要為了愛情踏入陌生的陸地，但當他站在甲板與陸地之間望向城市時，他的心意再次莫名的轉變了，而轉身回到了甲板上，繼續在海上生活。即使後來戰爭爆發，船員都離開了船，他還是在船上彈著琴。隨著戰爭的結束，Virginian號由於年久失修而即將被炸掉，MAX聽說這一消息後急忙趕到碼頭阻止工人繼續向船上搬運炸藥，因為他堅信，1900還在裡面。Max試圖找到1900並勸說他一起下船，可是1900沒有接受而選擇和船一起沈入了大海……。

推薦原因︰
The first time I saw the film, I was still a junior high school student. I didn’t have many ideas of movie, but just feeling sorrow. Until I saw this movie recently, I still felt sad but having more thoughts of 1900 for the attitude he faced his life. For me, I thought it was too hard to say a word for my opinion. Honestly, I just could say that the plots were such complicated and made me have different impressions every time I saw it.
